Peekskill Robin's Report, August 28, 2009
The Peekskill Robins announced this morning that Steven Pinto [2008] of Manhattanville College. has become the 56th Robin to sign a Professional Contract as he is set to join the American Defenders of New Hampshire [ Can-Am League] for a Weekend Series against the Quebec Capitales starting this evening. The Yonkers N.Y. Native hit .393 for the Robins in 2008 and quickly became one of the team catalysts in that season. Pinto was one of the Top Players to ever wear a Manhattanville Valients Uniform and is the All Time School Leader in total hits [224] total bases [295] and hit .382 for his career with 85 stolen bases.
The Robins would also like to recognize several former players who are enjoying successful minor league seasons:
Michael Moras [2006] who was playing for the Kingsport Mets, was recently promoted to the Savannah Sand Knats of the South Atlantic League and has had 4 hits in his first 8 at bats for a .500 average.
Kevin Thomas [2005] is 5-7 with a .398 for the Quad City River Bandits [St. Louis] of the Midwest League. To date in 2009, he has pitched 107 innings.
Peter Kennelly [2005] is 3-1 with a 1.31 era for the Elizabethen Twins of the Appalachian League in 20 innings pitched.
David Wendt [2007] is batting .320 for the Princeton Rays, also of the Appalachian League in 17 games played.
